Gettin' Your Team Spirit on with Kids Decals!

Now that the kids are back in school and the weather is turning cooler....  it's time to turn our attention to ...

     FOOTBALL Season!!!!

If your family is anything like mine, I've been hearing lots of chatter between my husband and sons on who the top picks are for fantasy football and speculating on which teams will have a good year. I really didn't care two hoots about football before I met my husband. But I'm happy to report that I actually enjoy watching a game with him now(instead of just enduring it !). It's a great family bonding event!

At Kids Decal Corner, we're here to help you get your team spirit on for 2010!!!

A few thought on how you can use our products:

1. Because our kids decals are removable and reusable... don't hesitate to display them in your family room, or office or your "Man's Cave" just for the season or game! As a woman, I understand that football decals and team color bands might not be in your design plan for the whole year! But, because of the versatile nature of these decals, you can make the football fans in your family very happy and keep your sense of style and design. Put up the sports wall stickers for the few months of the season or for the Sunday game, and then take them back down when the season or game is over!
A few suggestions on placement: Try sticking them to the kitchen wall where you display all yummy football watchin' treats. They're great for Sunday Football parties! As well, I bet you'd get a lot of cheers if you hung them over your flat screen tv!

2. We have a few different ways that you can celebrate your team pride this season.
First... Our Logo certified peel and stick sports borders. These are available for most of the teams in the NFL, however I just listed the most popular teams (for the sake of time). If you don't see your team's border, please click on the "Special Request" icon and let me know what you're looking for. I'd be most happy to add it for you if I can!

The borders are 5 inches high and 5 yards long, and cost $26.95.

A helpful hint: ALWAYS keep the silicone backing that these borders come on, so you can safely store them from one season to the next... enjoying many football parties and victories!

Second... We've just added Sports Team Color Bands. The brand is Simple Stripes. These color bands are really, really cool. They're peel and stick, but are able to be cut and can be mix and matched to form all kinds of cool wall designs. For more on how to use these Simple Stripes tune in at the end of this week, I'm planning a blog post just on this category - they're that cool!

But for the purpose of this post, we'll just be focusing on the team colors. Hopefully this won't cause you to boycott Kids Decal Corner, but we're Cowboys fans around here. For sake of loyalties I'll be using their team colors for this demonstration.

I suggest using your favorite Team Color Bands along with your favorite Sports Icon Sudden Shadow to create a truly dramatic wall design. Now this combo is cool enough you might just want to keep it up all year long!

The Simple Stripes Team Color Bands are sold for $14.95 (1 band in each color) and if you buy the Sudden Shadows Kids Decal Mural you can save money and only spend $35.95 for both the Running Back and the Tackle! So, for less than $50 you can have a Team room make over and make your football fans really happy!

I hope this blog post on our sports wall stickers is helpful and gives you some ideas on how you can create a great environment to cheer on your team this season while enjoying the company of family and friends! Here's Kids Decal Corner wishing you a great football season!

Stay tuned to see what we offer for our College Football Sports wall stickers.... coming next week!

Unfortunately for some reason or another the instructions for the utensil holder didn't come through on the post previous to this about how to make school organizers. We're sorry for this mistake and here are the instructions.

1. Lay out the corkboard on a clean work surface. With your pencil, mark the top and bottom of the can on the corkboard.

2. Hold your ruler up to the first mark and draw a straight line at least 12” long. Repeat the process with your second mark, drawing a line parallel to the first. The lines will create a long strip that will wrap all the way around your can.

3. Cut out the strip with your craft knife.

4. Use your hot glue gun to apply a generous coat of glue to the corkboard strip. Align the strip with the top and bottom of your can, then roll the can as you adhere the corkboard.

5. Cut off the excess corkboard with your craft knife.

6. If finishing with fabric, lay out your fabric print side down. Add 1/2 inch to all 4 sides then cut.

7. Lay fabric onto ironing board with print side down and fold over 1/2" of fabric on all sides (print side will be turned up on the folded area). Iron to make a straight and firm crease. By now your fabric will be the same size as the corkboard.

8. Spread fabric glue evenly over corkboard along top inch, bottom inch, and along the corkboard seam (this is where you will make your fabric seam as well).

Kids Decals Help You Get Organized for School!

With school starting up, here at Kids Decal Corner we thought it would be fun to find some creative ways to use some of our kids decals. What immediately came to mind? Using chalkboard and whiteboard decals to get organized for school! Whether you're the kid or the mom, being organized is crucial. Not to mention, who doesn't like to get those necessary things accomplished creatively and with fun, while staying on a thin budget?! So here's what we have cooked up this week for Project Runway Monday...

* How to make pen, pencil, and scissors holders out of cleaned up empty soup cans
*How to make magazine, folder, and loose paper holders out of empty cereal boxes
*How to display schedules and homework assignments on the wall
*How to keep the odds and ends tidy and organized
Before we get started, here is a great website with easy-to-follow instructions for most of these crafts. Please check it out...they have other great ideas too! Many of our instructions come from here.

Utensil HolderOffice Cork- make them neutral with corkboard or colorful with your favorite fabric!

Soup can, label removed and thoroughly washed
Corkboard (and fabric if you like)
Craft knife
Hot glue gun
iron (if using fabric)
fabric glue (if using fabric)
paint brush (if using fabric)

Tip: Attach quick reminder notes or small photos of loved ones to your utensil holder with fabric pins for a personalized touch. (If you're not going to pin photos and notes to your utensil holder, you don't need to put a layer of corkboard beneath fabric).

Tip: You can cut the chalkboard stickers to size and wrap it around your utensil cup, big enough for a favorite quote or just to write something like "pencils and markers", etc.

Paperwork OrganizerOffice Holder- suggested things to fill the boxes with: notebooks, folders, homework "to do" and homework "done", loose paper for young kids' projects

Cardboard cereal box, cracker boxes, dishwasher powder boxes, etc.
Craft knife or scissors
3-4 sheets decorative paper, 8 1/2” x 11” or larger (or fabric)
Decoupage or fabric glue
Kids Decal Corner chalkboard stickers

1. Starting at the top corner of your cereal box, use your ruler and pencil to make a mark 4” down.
2. Hold one end of your ruler at the top corner of the box (side opposite the pencil mark), then stretch the ruler diagonally across the box so it connects to the mark. Draw a line with your pencil, then repeat on the other side of the box.
3. Use your craft knife to cut off the top of the box along the lines, and use your ruler to cut straight lines!
4. Lay your decorative paper or fabric, pattern side-down, on a clean work surface and place the box on top of it. Trace each side of the box, including both spines, onto a sheet of paper or your fabric.
5. Apply the appropriate glue to your box, one side at a time, in a smooth, even coat with your paintbrush.
6. Attach the pieces of paper to each side of the box, gently smoothing away wrinkles with clean fingers. Use your craft knife to trim away too-long or crooked edges.
7. Cut your chalkboard kids decal down to size to make a label so you have approximately 1/2" on each side of the label between the label and the side of the box. Write your specific organizer's purpose on each label before attaching it to your box according to the decal's instructions. Make sure to attach each label at the same height of each box to give a uniform look, especially if these new organizers will be standing next to each other.

Mini Bulletin BoardOffice Clipboard- you can purchase cheap clipboards at dollar stores, office max, and places like that for under $1 each!

1 sheet decorative paper, 8 1/2” x 14” or larger
Craft knife
Decoupage glue
Kids Decal Corner chalkboard stickers

1. Lay your paper, pattern side-down, on a clean work surface, then place your clipboard on top of it and trace its shape with your pencil.
2. Cut along the lines with your craft knife.Use your paintbrush to apply a smooth, even layer of decoupage glue to the front side of your clipboard.
3. Attach the paper to the clipboard, smoothing away wrinkles with clean hands. Cut away excess paper around the metal clip with your craft knife.
4. Apply a second thin coat of glue on the top of the paper to create a seal. Let dry, then hang the clipboards on large nails or hooks.
5. Label clipboard with a cut-to-size chalkboard decal, centered from left to right and positioned just 1/2 inch below the bottom edge. Decal label should be at least 4inches wide. Label could say "Homework Assignments", "Notes from Teachers", "Schedule", etc. You can make as many as you like! Try hanging four or five clipboards in a row over your desk, mixing and matching paper patterns and colors to make a statement.

Framed Chalkboard
Empty picture frame (whichever size best fits your space)
Kids Decal Corner chalkboard or white board decal
2 small nails

1. Hold your empty frame on the wall where you want to hang it and with a pencil draw a line behind to bottom of the top edge of the frame.
2. With your ruler, measure the width of each edge of the frame, then mark that distance on your line drawn on the wall. Check this line with your level to make sure it's level.
3. Gently hammer two small picture nails along the line, one at each marking from the width of the frame.
4. Hang your frame to make sure it hangs (and your nails got put in straight) level.
5. Take the frame back off the wall. Lay your frame over top of your decal and mark just inside its borders.
6. Take away the frame and cut the decal to size and adhere to your wall space where the frame will be hanging.
7. Hang your frame and enjoy your new framed chalkboard!

Small Items Organizer- You can put things like erasers, paper clips, rubber bands, and don't forget chalk inside each container!

Tuna cans, label removed and thoroughly washed
Decorative scrapbook paper

Decoupage glue
paint brush

1. Measure height of tuna can from bottom edge to top just under the rim around the top. Measure around the can.
2. Transfer measurements to the backside of your papers and cut them to size.
3. Spread glue evenly over tuna cans, one at a time, and put paper strip over the glue. Hold until glue is partially dry and the paper stays in place when you take your fingers away. Repeat this with each of your cans.
4. Organize your odds and ends and put them in your cans. You can display the cans on top of your desk, on top of a shelf hanging on the wall above the desk, or inside a drawer.

What's great about these projects, is most people already have all or most of the materials sitting around in their house. Just add the chalkboard stickers, or the dry erase kids decals, for around $20 each, and you've got a completely personalized and new and efficient way of organizing your life and your child's life! Try it out and let us know how it works! We love to hear from our readers and customers!

kids decal-baseball combo. suddenshadows

Like I promised last week, I would give you the scoop on this great, new product line that's been added to Sports Wall Stickers Category at Kids Decal Corner!

They're called Sudden Shadows... and I think you'll see why. Like all our other kids decals, they are peel and stick. Simply peel them off their backing and place them on your wall. Some of them come in multiple pieces that just need fitted together, like a puzzle. Very easy, though!!!

What makes these kids decals special, is the fact that they are translucent. So whatever color your wall is, it will shine through this decal. This is our most "fail- proof" product ever! No need to worry if the colors of your decal will match your wall colors or bedding, etc.

These aren't just cool stickers for walls either, they would look really cool on a LARGE mirror too. Especially because of their translucence. They're pretty big... most measuring at least 3-4 feet tall. Because they only cost $20.95, they make a great, affordable gift!

These are great for your teen going off to college too! In minutes they can let all their friends know where their passions lie. Because they are removable and reusable, they can cart them along wherever their room happens to be in the course of their educational journey!

As you can see, by this sampling of pictures, is that they come in just about any sports arena you can imagine... Be sure to check out this new category, because we have over 20 new decals for your decorating enjoyment!

Kids Decal Corner Adds New Sports Section!

I'm not naturally a big sports fanatic, but the people I love the most in life, are! So, out of love for them, I've grown in an appreciation for sports and can sometimes impress my 14 year old step-son with naming off a few important players. That always makes my day!

So this NEW section, on Kids Decal Corner, is dedicated to the men in my life who love all things with balls, bats, sticks, and such... even my littlest "man" (who is only 4) loves to play baseball, football, hockey. He's always asking me "What's your favorite 'fan', Mom?" He means, who's my favorite team. I love it!

So here's a big "Go Team" to send off our new Sports Wall Stickers section on Kids Decal Corner!

First I've added kids decal wall borders for the popular teams in the NFL, MLB and College Sports. Each category has its own page. I had my husband help me pick out the most popular teams, but I want YOU to know that, if there is a team that you love and don't see in Kids Decal Corner, PLEASE email me your request at I very easily may be able to find it and offer it to you! We want to keep our customer happy at Kids Decal Corner!

For the NFL, here are a few samplings of the items we are carrying:
These are wall borders that measure 5 inches high by 5 feet long. These borders are removable and reusable as well. A fun idea is to use them for your Team Parties!Cheer on your favorite team and then when the party's over or the season's finished... peel off the border, replace it onto the silicone backing and save it for next year!

For the MLB section we have:

The rivaling teams Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees and many others. As well, these are kids decal wall borders.

Our College Sports section gets a bit more diverse. We offer the wall border, kids decals that can be placed on CARS, LOCKERS, LAPTOPS, walls, mirrors, furniture... you name... if it's flat and dry and clean... it will stick! These decals are even proven to withstand the car wash! Along with the border and kids decals, we offer Laptop Skins! How cool would it be to send your graduating teen off to college with their college's team emblem. I'd say that would earn you some serious "brownie points"!
Here's the wall border. Again measuring 5 inches high by 5 feet long!
Here's the Kids decals....

And finally... the Laptop Skin!
Come and check out all the new teams that have joined the pages of so you can properly display your team pride this season!

I've also added a new product line called Sudden Shadows. They are really cool kids decals. They are just like all our other decals, made of thin, flexible vinyl but they have a special translucent quality allowing your wall color to shine through behind them.... thus the name... Sudden Shadow. I think you'll fall in love with them as much as I did. So here's a sample...

I'll share more about these next week... so stay tuned in :)

Kids Decals Make Back To School Prep A Cinch!

Wow, can you believe it's August already? Sadly, the laid back days of Summer are almost over. If you have kids, you're probably starting to make your list of all you need to buy and do before sending them out the door onto the bus.

Well, Kids Decal Corner is here to help!!! Whether you're sending off your "baby" to kindergarten or your teen to college... we've got some really cool, NEW products that can help you and your kids stay organized and stylish all at the same time!

Here are a few of our NEW kids decal chalkboard stickers from Wall Candy Arts. These kids decals are peel and stick, removable, reusable.... making them super versatile and useful! Aren't they cute?! What preschooler or kindergartener wouldn't be delighted to practice their letters and numbers on these cool shapes? Not to mention, how cool is it to WRITE ON THE WALL??!!!

My son is 4 1/2 years old this Fall, and I'm planning to start teaching him preschool and kindergarten curriculum. He loves to learn and seems eager to start. We'll see what he thinks about sitting and learning everyday. Anyways, I bought him a little desk off of Craig's list and I was thinking one of these decals would work great on top of his wooden desk. Talk about being "economical"?? We already go through TONS of paper... this way, he'd be able to practice his letters, numbers, shapes .... and then wipe it off and start all over! I'll have to let you know which one I decide to go with. I think I'm more excited about teaching him than he is about learning.

If you'd rather avoid the "mess" of chalk dust, try out our new dry erase panels and sheets!

This set of dry erase kids decals come in a set of 3 panels that are 9'x12' each. You could use them separately or put them all together for one big whiteboard. These panels are by Wall Candy Arts and sell for $19.95 at Kids Decal Corner!

This dry erase kids decal is from Roommates. It comes in 1 sheet that is 17.5'x24' long. As you can see from the photo, you can either use it as one big sheet or cut it into any shape you like... circles, leaves, flowers, teacups, .... wherever your imagination takes you!

As you can see, these chalkboard stickers and dry erase kids decals can be useful no matter what age you are!! And as you can see, these aren't just stickers for walls either... try them on lockers, desk tops, offices, kitchen cabinets, bathrooms (good way to remind your kids of their bathroom duties), or beside the phone for messages. The options are limitless! All you need is a smooth, dry, clean surface and you're good to go!

For the TEENS that are going off to college and are looking for RA approved decorations, these are PERFECT!! Here are a few of the NEW, more mature decals we have:

This particular set comes in a pack of 4 chalkboard sheets that are 19' x 24 1/2' each  OR you can put them all together for a GIANT chalkboard that is 49' x 38' . This set is sold for $59.95 at Kids Decal Corner.

These are not as organizational in nature... but still very cool for the teen going off to college or for your tween that's looking to pimp out their locker at school; Dry Erase Photo Frames kids decals. Frame your favorite photos on the wall with these kids decals. Then write a funny caption or title to each image. This set of frames comes in a pack of 3 and includes 9 tack decals and 21 tape decals. Are they not totally cool!? This set sells for the VERY reasonable price of $19.95 at!

If you like the frame idea, but want more "frill"... try this set of Rose Frames Kids Decals!

Well, I hope I was helpful today in showing you just some of the fun ways that you and your kids can get ready, set, and GO into this next school year stylin' and organized! Wishing you well in your Back To School endeavors this month!

Oh, I almost forgot... check out our collection of alphabet wall stickers for your toddler who's learning their ABC's and 123's.
