Kids Decals and Creative Moms!

Hey folks, going short but sweet today :)...

The best part of business for me is seeing the creative ways that customers have used their products. So here are a few pics of what two creative moms did with their kids decals!

First we have Jeannine who turned an ordinary deacon's bench toy chest into a work of art. After painting the bench, she added the Transportation Kids Decals to make her project one step better! And the best thing about these decals, is they can be exchanged for new ones when her son get's tired of the cars and trucks. This mamma is thinking ahead, because she already ordered the Jungle Adventure Kids Decal! for just such a day! I love how Jeannine has demonstrated the versatility of the decals we sell at Kids Decal Corner. When tastefully done, they can turn an ordinary piece of furniture ( or wall, or door, or whatever is smooth and dry) into a unique, one of a kind masterpiece! 

Great job Jeannine... I love the colors you chose for the bench too! I'm sure this will be a big hit with your son!

Second, is Pamela. She is the winner of the Scroll Tree Decal giveaway... and she also did a great job using this decal to creatively put the finishing touches to her daughter's room! The decal totally adds a completed look to the already cute decor! Now what baby isn't going to like waking up to those cute characters every morning?!

Mural Stencils Take A Trip to the Land Down Under...

Last month, as I was rubbing the sleepiness from my eyes, I saw I had an email from a gentleman, Darren Tan, in Australia. I could hardly contain my excitement... not only because this was Kids Decal Corner's first international sale but mostly because of the purpose behind the purchase. I asked Darren if he would share their inspiring story with us; so here it is...

Every year Darren and his co-workers from Lend Lease (http://www.bovislendlease.com.au/ourschools 

Lend Lease is an organization that has been appointed by the Australian government to oversee the design and construction of new educational facilities and refurbishing primary schools in multiple regions of Australia.)

gather together and volunteer their time and and services to "give back" to their community.

This year, Cromehurst School ( http://www.cromehurst-s.schools.nsw.edu.au/index.html ) were the blessed recipients. This school focuses on caring for individuals with  behavioral, mental and physical disabilities.

  "Cromehurst School project was chosen because the focus of the school is on their students and as a special needs school, there is a high priority to prepare students for their next environment while also catering for their individual needs. Due to this, the school does not have the time to beautify their environment themselves." says Darren Tan ( the group leader for Lend Lease's 15th Annual Community Day ).

The school was in need of some maintenance and beautifying. Using the Wild Safari Jungle Mural Stencil kit, Darren and his friends painted the outside brick wall with elephants, giraffes, lions and all kinds of other wild creatures to create a truly fun and inspiring environment for the special students that attend there every day! Here are some pictures of their finished project. Great job, guys!!!

"This is Lend Lease’s 15^th consecutive Community Day, and since the initiative began in 1996, employees have volunteered over 450,000 hours worldwide." Now, that's impressive!

I have truly been inspired by Darren and his coworkers to find a way to give back to the community in which I live. I'm currently investigating how Kids Decal Corner can be apart of more wonderful projects like this one!

It's stories like this that make all the hard work of owning my own business while being a stay at home mom worth while. In a small way, I felt like I was apart of Lend Lease's efforts... and thus far it has been the most rewarding sale ever made! 

I would love to hear any feedback from you, my readers, of ideas or stories that you would have of similar ways that Kids Decal Corner could become involved in making the world for kids a more beautiful and inspiring place to be! If you're aware of any schools, day-cares, after school programs, hospitals, etc that are in need of some TLC... I would love to know about them! I'd be excited to see how we could help them out.

I have the Halloween Kids Decals in my kids school/play room and they look great. There's a skeleton on the door, spider webs in the corners of the windows, and skulls hanging from the crayon tins! And it all took 10 minutes to apply. The best part is, they'll pull off without leaving any sticky goo behind or pulling the paint off my door or walls. When my kids saw the fun decals, they were both oohing and aahing over them :)

Make Halloween Luminaries With Kids Decals!

Make these fun and spooky luminaries to light up your night of trick -r-treat!

This past week when I got my Taste of Home Cooking Magazine, I saw they had this cute idea of how to make luminaries with some old glass jars, tissue paper, decoupage glue and ribbon. I adapted it a bit and included some really adorable Halloween Kids Decals.

Here's the simple directions on how I made these (by the way.. it took less than an hour to make 4 luminaries)

1. Gather your supplies:
         glass jars - varying sizes
         tissue paper
         decoupage glue - like Mod Podge (If you don't have any of this, you can use equal parts of Elmer's glue and water to make your own paste )
         paint brush
         ribbon
         Halloween kids decals





2. Using your decoupage paste, cover the jar with a light layer of glue.

Gently press strips of tissue paper onto the glue. It works best to overlap a few layers. Fold the paper over the top edge - making sure it's pasted down... and the bottom. I trimmed up the top edge of paper before I glued it down.

Allow the paper/glue to dry.












 3. Put ribbon or jute around the neck of the jar.

4. Once the jars are dry, place the decals on the them.

5. Place tea lights inside the jars, light, enjoy.
